Hola Singapore!

Sep 12, 4:30 pm. I began my trip to Singapore from Hyderabad. This was my first time flying in a plane. I was anxious and excited. I was feeling uncomfortable in my chest. I look out the window, I see the sun and clouds. Magical, mysterious and ecstatic, I thought to myself. This first ride in the bird was awesome.

I landed in the Bangalore airport T1 terminal, collected my luggage and headed straight for Terminal T2 where I would meet my fellow passenger right beside the Check-in counter. We were essentially strangers, only connected on WhatsApp and a few group calls just a month or two ago. Originally a group of six, we split into two groups - 4 flying out of Mumbai, us 2 flying out of Bangalore.

After getting to know each other and completing the check-in process, we closed in for our time of departure. But, we were hungry. We bought some red sauce pasta as a go to, went to the boarding gate. While we were eating, the airlines notified us that the boarding has begun and only 10 mins were left. We had to stuff our mouths with the pasta ( i did not know they allowed food inside the plane - my first time in an international plane ). Eventually, we were able to get in before the closing time (Lucky). I was so relieved that we got on the flight.

During the flight, excitement took over - so no rest for 4 hours. We caught a glimpse of Chennai glowing in the night from the sky. It was a great feeling. We experienced turbulence many times during the course of the flight due to bad weather.

We were hungry half way through and the cabin crew helped us with the food. We had to buy it, of course. We got 2 cup noodles (Maggi masala) and 2 cups of coffee for 800 rupees - again, first time on an airplane, no idea if it was too costly.

After 3 hours 50 mins, we were able to see Singapore from the sky. Everything looked as it was covered in gold, with yellow lights in the night sky. I wish I had a better camera or a better phone to capture the sight. It is hard to describe such a landscape. The landing was smooth. Singapore's local time showed 5:30 am (1:30 am IST), which meant the night was over and a new day has begun.
